The new location of Market Days at Veteran’s Park has brought an abundance of vendors and customers enjoying Mt. Vernon’s very own flea market and craft vendor fair. The community has two more Saturdays this summer to shop produce, antiques, crafts, lawn art, blacksmith items, resale, plants, baked goods, specialty items, and much more. The next Market Days will occur Saturday, August 4th from 8 a.m.- 2 p.m. at Veteran ‘s Park, 800 S. 27th St.

August’s Market Days will feature a Back to School Bash theme. Dental Safari will be on site with free dental cleanings and check-ups for children. Children can also enjoy a free inflatable from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. A local wholesale produce vendor will return this year with low-cost, affordable fruits and vegetables of several varieties. Market Days will also serve as a United Way Stuff the Bus drop-off location. The United Way will be collecting donations of backpacks, binders, glue sticks, pencils, and other school supply items.

In addition to Market Days, the Jefferson County 4-H Foundation will hold their annual BBQ Fundraiser from 11:30 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. at Veteran’s Park inside the Rolland Lewis Building. Drive thru pick-up will also be available on the north end of the parking lot near the Veteran’s Memorial. Tickets can be purchased in advance for $8 from any 4-H member or $9 at the door. The meal includes a BBQ sandwich, salad, chips, fruit, dessert, and drink. Extra parking will be available in the grass across from the main parking lot to accommodate the number of events at Veteran’s Park on August 4th.
