American Legion of Salem Memorial Service
On Memorial Day, Monday, May 27, the Salem American Legion Post 128 hosted the service honoring and remembering all men and women who have died in military service to the United States.
The service was held at East Lawn Cemetery in Salem, starting with pre-program music by the Little Egypt Brass Quintet. Introduction and opening remarks were made by Commander Harold Kocher. The Pledge of Allegiance was lead by Boys Scouts and Cub Scouts. The guest speaker was Ed Rankin, followed by the placement of the wreath and the rifle salute to the deceased by the American Legion honor guard. “Taps” was played by the Little Egypt Brass Quintet. The benediction was given by Chaplin Robert Lybarger.
