New Veterans Tribute Quilt Unveiled
The Lakeside Quilters and the Jim Beasley Veterans Tribute unveiled the new quilt that will be raffled off with proceeds to benefit the Tribute, located on the main campus of Kaskaskia College. “Majestic Flight” is a 100” x 100” quilt that took hundreds of hours to complete with members cutting our patterns, laying the blocks and stitching it all together.
“Majestic Flight” is the fifth quilt completed by the Lakeside Quilters as a fund raising project for the Tribute project, with the previous quilt raffles raising more than $45,000. In addition, the quilters have prepared personalized quilts for more than 30 area Purple Heart Recipients which are presented during a reception at Kaskaskia College. Veterans Tribute Committee Member Dr. Dee Boswell thanked the quilters for their work, “what these ladies have done for the Tribute is truly special,” said Boswell. “Each year they have given their time and talent in preparing these wonderful quilts that help us raise the funds to continue the Tribute project. We are truly thankful for their hard work.”
Tickets for “Majestic Flight” are on sale now with the drawing scheduled for June 6, 2018. For more information, you can contact Jim Beasley at 618-292-4461 or Dr. Dee Boswell at 618- 532-0275.
