KC to Host Enduring Freedom Celebration

Kaskaskia College is pleased to host its 16th annual “Enduring Freedom” Veterans Day Celebration on Monday, November 13 on KC’s main campus.  Kaskaskia College is proud to honor the service of those men and women who have given their time and energy in the service of our country.

The morning will feature a free biscuits and gravy breakfast in the College’s Student Center from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. for veterans and their guests.

A special program will be held in the Jane Knight Auditorium starting at 9:45 a.m. that is open to the students and the public, featuring guest speaker, Reverend Tommy Henegar.  The morning will also feature the presentation of colors by the Beckemeyer American Legion Post #1227, and the performance of the military service songs by the KC Blues under the direction of Lynda Marshall.

Pastor Tommy Henegar is the founder and director of the Centralia Youth Workcamp, the chairman of the Centralia Community Benevolence Association, and chair of the Marion County Emergency Food and Shelter Program.  A longtime supporter of veterans and veteran causes, Tommy’s father served on the USS Franklin during World War II.  Tommy is married to Kellie Henegar, and the father of Will and Abby.
