KC Fall Choir Concert
Join the Kaskaskia College Music Department for their second concert of the 2017-18 season. The college choirs will be presenting a fall choral concert in collaboration with the Centralia High School choirs. The concert will feature a tremendous selection of choral music in varying styles.
The event will be held Thursday, October 19 at 7:00 p.m. in the Kaskaskia College Jane Knight Auditorium. Admission is free.
Featured will be the Kaskaskia College Concert Choir and KC Blues, under the direction of Professor Lynda Marshall and the Centralia High School Choirs, under the direction of Jami Hodges.
The college choirs are eager to host the visiting choirs from Centralia, as some of the current members are graduates of Centralia High School. The Centralia High School choirs that will be performing at the concert include: Beginning and Concert Choir, which are open to any CHS student and Advanced Treble and A cappella Choirs which are selected through an audition process. Each choir will be singing two contemporary selections and combining with the Kaskaskia College choirs for one final piece.
Two of the Kaskaskia College choirs, Concert Choir and KC Blues, will be presenting music ranging from Latin-infused repertoire to a gorgeous, contemporary setting of “America the Beautiful”, featuring guest cellist, Angelina Mc-Laughlin-Heil, from the St. Louis Philharmonic Orchestra. According to Professor Lynda Marshall, “collaborating with local schools and professional musicians is a delightful way to participate in fresh musical experiences that create unique, lifelong memories that are very special to not only the performers, but those in attendance.”
