KC Fall Choir Concert Slated for October 24
Join the Kaskaskia College Music Department will host their second concert of the 2016-2017 season on Monday, October 24 at 7:00 p.m. in the Kaskaskia College Jane Knight Auditorium
The college choirs will be presenting a fall choral concert in collaboration with the Carlyle Junior High and High School choirs. The concert will feature a tremendous selection of choral music in varying styles. The college choirs are eager to host the visiting choirs from Carlyle, as some of the current members are graduates of Carlyle High School.
Erika Register, director of choirs at Carlyle shared her insight on the upcoming concert, “I am truly excited to be sharing a concert with Lynda Marshall and the Kaskaskia College Choirs. This experience shows the students that they can continue singing and performing music even if they don’t choose to make it a career. It also provides a unique opportunity for the audience to hear multiple levels of choral performance”.
According to Professor Lynda Marshall, “Collaborating with local schools is important for enhancing our local musical community. Whether music is experienced by the performers themselves or the audience members in attendance, musical experiences create memorable moments that only happen when you are part of the live performance”.
The concert will feature the Kaskaskia College Concert Choir and KC Blues, under the direction of Professor Lynda Marshall and the Carlyle Junior High School Mixed Chorus, Carlyle High School Concert Choir under the direction of Erika Register.
The concert is free and open to the public.
