KC Board Trustee Jim Beasley Recognized by Illinois Community College Trustees Association
Kaskaskia College Board Trustee Jim Beasley has been recognized for his commitment and dedication to higher education with the Linden A. Warfel Trustee Education Award by the Illinois Community College Trustees Association. Beasley is just the fifth Illinois community college trustee to be presented the award in recognition for completing more than one hundred ICCTA continuing education seminars during his tenure on the board.
Beasley has been a strong advocate for KC, and the community college system during his 28 years on the board of trustees, saying he serves to ensure that Kaskaskia College is providing a quality education that is accessible and affordable to everyone. In his role as college trustee Beasley also takes every opportunity to learn more about trusteeship and has served as a mentor to new board members.
Kaskaskia College President George Evans congratulated Beasley on his award. “Mr. Beasley has a tireless passion for higher education,” said Evans. “KC is fortunate to have someone who has devoted so much time in helping the college grow, while keeping students at the heart of all his decisions.”
During his time at KC Beasley has held every board seat including chairman, while at the state level Beasley has served on every ICCTA committee and twice chaired the Association’s Awards and Education Committee. He was also recognized by the ICCTA with the Ray Hartstein Trustee Achievement Award, which recognizes exemplary service by a community college board member in 2008.
