Instrumental Concert to be held May 13

The Kaskaskia College Music Department will present its Annual Spring Concert on Tuesday, May 13 at 7:30 p.m. in the Jane Knight Auditorium. The concert will feature the Kaskaskia College Concert and Jazz Bands under the direction of Professor Cliff Jourdan.

Concert Band Highlights include: “Old Comrades March” by Harold R. Gore, “October” by Eric Whitacre, and “March Slav, Op. 31” by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky.

In addition, the newly renovated Steinway piano will be featured in “Prelude in C# minor” by Sergei Rachmaninoff. This arrangement was written by Professor Cliff Jourdan and will feature piano soloist Gwen O’Dell.

Jazz Band Highlights include: “Jersey Bounce” made famous by Benny Goodman, “A Foggy Day” by George and Ira Gershwin, “Moon Dance” by Van Morrison, and Count Basie’s “All of Me” and “Wind Machine”.

The concert is free and open to the public with a reception immediately following the concert
