JCHS Ice Cream Social
The Jefferson County Historical Society is hosting their annual Old-Fashioned Ice Cream Social on Saturday, August 10 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Historical Village, 1411 North 27th Street in Mt. Vernon. It will be held inside the air-conditioned Schweinfurth Museum. We invite the public to come and enjoy the combination of ice cream, cake, drinks, and entertainment. The dulcimer group, Monday Night Strummers, will perform live at 1:00 p.m.
Tickets for this fundraiser are $5.00 and can be purchased in advance at the Historical Society office or the day of the event. Ice cream, cake and drink are included in the ticket price. Guided tours of the Historical Village are available at no charge.
New this year is our bicentennial photo contest display. Entries from the photo contest will be displayed and the winning photos will be given recognition.
The Jefferson County Historical Society was founded in 1946 to preserve the heritage of the county for future generations. They are a nonprofit organization that relies on grants, donations, membership dues, and fundraisers to operate. Their programs and village tours are free of charge and open to the public. They would appreciate the support of the community for this fundraiser. Call 618-246-0033 or email email@example.com for more information.
