National Gun Violence Awareness Day program at Bandshell
On June 8 the community was invited to honor victims and survivors of gun violence and to recognize National Gun Violence Awareness Day at the Centralia Library Park Bandshell. Participants were encouraged to wear orange as it has long been the color of gun violence prevention.
Several individuals came forward to share their experiences with gun violence and spoke passionately about their involvement with anti-violence organizations like Moms Demand Action. After the speakers finished, all who attended were offered free Orange Crush soda, symbolizing the desire of event organizers to “crush” gun violence.
