The Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Southern Illinois will be having an Epilepsy Walk on Sunday, August 11 at the Southern Illinois Miners Rent One Park in Marion, Illinois. Sign in for the event will be from 2:30 to 3:30. The Walk begins at 3:30, and 5:05 is the Southern Illinois Miners game time.
There will be a $25.00 entry fee. This includes participation in the walk, an epilepsy walk t-shirt, ticket to the miners games following the Walk and a perfect game voucher (hot dog, chips and drink). You can register in the Mt. Vernon Office by calling 618-244-6680 ext. 1002 or email whitneyv@epilepsygsil.org. All of the proceeds stay in Southern Illinois.
The mission of the epilepsy foundation is to lead the fight to overcome the challenges of living with epilepsy and to accelerate therapies to stop seizures, find cures and save lives.
So who is the Epilepsy Foundation of Southern Illinois? The Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Southern Illinois was founded in 1977 and offers services for those living in the lower counties of the state of Illinois.
Some of the programs include: Epilepsy public education and awareness programs; epilepsy information and referral; intensive case management programs for those with seizure disorders; medical liaison and transportation services with area neurologists and epileptologists; Emergency Seizure Medication Program; Pediatric Seizure Clinic; social support groups; and Camp Roehr — a week long children’s camp for those with seizure disorders — held each summer.
