Centralia Relay for Life rescheduled
By Tina Suarez
Due to the recent storms on Friday, June 21 the Centralia Relay for Life Committee and American Cancer Society Staff Partners had to postpone this year’s event at Fairview Park for the safety of all involved.
The rescheduled date is Saturday, July 20 at The Rock Church. A shorter version of the event has been scheduled.
The schedule is from 10 to 10:30 for survivor registration and from 10:30 to 11:30 for the Survivor Ceremony / Survivor and Caregiver Laps.
There will be music and speakers for the Survivor Ceremony. You can still purchase luminaria from now up to 11:00 a.m. the day of the event.
Conagra will be doing a modified cakewalk.
Donations can be made at the event. Anyone can come to the event and donate to a team of their choice or just make an overall donation. Donations can also be made to any Relay for Life member.
The Relay for Life Committee encourages everyone that’s a survivor or caregiver to come and walk a lap to celebrate your great achievement in your fight against cancer.
They also encourage everyone to come and participate in the Luminaria ceremony as they remember those who’ve been lost to cancer and honor those who are or have fought cancer. Together as a community, as a nation and as a world of passionate people, we will overcome this terrible disease.
The Committee would like to thank all of their sponsors for supporting them. If you have any questions, please let Margaret Mattmiller or Tina Suarez know. You can also contact them through the Facebook page Relay for Life of Centralia.
