Lutheran Child and Family Services of Illinois, one of the largest nonprofit child welfare agencies in Illinois, recently moved to a new office space at 618 South 42nd Street in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. The agency previously resided at 800 South 45th Street in Mt. Vernon. The new office will allow LCFS to better serve the needs of its clients within the community.

“As a nonprofit organization, it was important to find a location that helps our staff thrive as they serve our clients, while ensuring that donor resources are used appropriately,” said Mike Bertrand, LCFS’ President and CEO. “We’re confident that we’ve found that balance with our new space and look forward to continuing to serve children and families in the Mt. Vernon and surrounding communities for years to come.”

Out of its Mt. Vernon location, LCFS provides a variety of programs, including foster care, counseling and intact family services. In addition, LCFS also provides services within the area through Southern Thirty Adolescent Center (a 30-day short-term emergency-shelter care facility in Mt. Vernon) and Camp Wartburg (a retreat center and summer camp facility in Waterloo).

“LCFS has been serving the Mt. Vernon community for nearly 40 years, and we are excited to have the opportunity to continue to provide high-quality care and services to children and families in need,” shared Mary Rachael Stevens-Evans, LCFS Southern Regional Director.

Last year, LCFS cared for more than 500 foster children through its Southern Illinois offices. They ensured the children were safe and cared for in loving foster homes. At the same time, they worked closely with the birth families supporting them in getting their lives together, so they could be reunited with their children.

Lutheran Child and Family Services of Illinois is a leading provider of a variety of child welfare services. They serve children, individuals, families and communities of all faiths, races, orientations and ethnic backgrounds. LCFS improves the well-being of people across the state by protecting children, strengthening families and building futures for those who have experienced trauma.
