Holiday Inn Express Salem Captures 2018 Torchbearer Award

SALEM, ILLINOIS. InterContinental Hotel Group (IHG) announced Wednesday, Feb. 27, that the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Salem, Il. has won the corporation’s most prestigious honor, the 2018 Torchbearer Award.
The Torchbearer Award is given to the property that delivers an exceptional guest experience and received the highest customer satisfaction ranking based on Holiday Inn Express guest satisfaction surveys.
The Holiday Inn Express & Suites Salem is one of 2,276 global properties that competed for this honor.

According to Jessica Neville, Vice President of Operations for MPH Hotels, “Joyce Black was the Hotel General Manager until June 2018 when she retired. Joyce launched this effort through a service culture that was laser focused on the guest experience. Following her retirement, Robin Lindberg took over as General Manager and she continued to champion this effort without missing a beat.”

“The Torchbearer is IHG’s highest award for its properties. It is given to the properties that have guest service scores that are above a certain threshold and have met performance goals that are set forth by the brand.”

MPH Hotels, which started in 2003, is a management company that franchises with Holiday Inn Express.

“We are a small hotel management company. We are father (Mike P. Holtz) and son (Mike B. Holtz) owned and managed.

“We build and manage all of our own hotels. Everything we have we build from the ground up,” explained Neville. “We do all mid-scale limited service brands from Holiday Inn Expresses, Comfort Suites, Hampton Suites, Fairfield, etc.”

The community of Salem can be very proud that their Holiday Inn Express & Suites is ranked within the top 1% of all Holiday Inn Express’ worldwide. “What an incredible team effort it was and everybody pulled together to make this happen,” she said in conclusion.

The Holiday Inn Express & Suites–Salem is located at exit 116 off of Interstate 57. It is an 86 room pet friendly hotel.
