Centralia Buchheit presented wreaths to the Centralia Chapters of the American Legion and VFW to honor and remember the  lives of fallen soldiers.

The wreath donation was part of a national event that the Buchheit company has participated in the last three years. That event is “Wreaths Across America,” where wreaths are laid on veterans’ headstones, honoring their lives. Each year wreaths are laid at Arlington National Cemetery and over 1,200 other cemeteries across America.

Centralia Buchheit Store Manager John Hendrickson explained that Buchheit donates trucks and laborers to get the wreaths, and employees volunteer to lay them on gravestones. This year Buchheit did the National Cemetery in Springfield, Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis and a cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri. This year Buchheit helped place almost 9,000 wreaths at veterans’ graves.

Also, all Buchheit stores present wreaths to local chapters of veterans organizations. Local veterans Frank McKnight and Wayne Sensel of the American Legion Post 446, and Jim Murphy and Michael Draege of VFW Post 2055 accepted the wreaths and a memorial plaque from Hendrickson.
